Orkney dairymen buy into cheese
ORKNEY dairy producers have mounted a buy-out of the Orkney Cheese business.
The Orkney producers made their decision after Express Dairies announced a £2.2 million deal to acquire a majority interest in Claymore Creameries, formerly the North of Scotland Milk Marketing Board.
The new, as yet unnamed company, will have 30 Orkney members as well as 10 Caithness farmers.
Ian Larg, chief executive of Claymore Creameries, expects to maintain a close relationship with the Orkney co-operative.
