Pesticide checks

CHECKING for excessive pesticides residue in surface waters is now a good deal easier for Environment Agency officials. Computer software, using cropping data from MAFF, soil maps, details of over 295 pesticides and weather information, can now pinpoint potential problem areas. Targeted water sampling can then show whether the EUs 0.1 ug/l limit is exceeded. Where it is, action can be considered.n
