Phoma re-infection
CHECK oilseed rape for phoma re-infection, says Du Ponts Andy Selley. Fungicides sprayed in October are rapidly running out of steam leaving newly emerged leaves unprotected. Re-infection is widespread and a second fungicide is needed to prevent the phoma moving into the stem and forming yield robbing cankers. "There is a little more flexibility with resistant varieties such as Escort, but the phoma pressure is enormous." *
