Pig industry takes its case
to the suppliers
SCOTLANDS pig farmers are approaching retailers and fast-food suppliers in the hope of convincing them to buy locally-produced pork.
Andrew Piddie, the convener of the pigs committee of the National Farmers Union of Scotland, visited the Granada Services motorway station at Kinross.
He said: “We want to remind the trade of how good our products are and ask them to make them available to their customers.” Home-produced products should be clearly labelled and consumers should know when they are given food which is not home-produced, he said.
