Police ‘keep open mind’ over Somerset firebombs
By FWi staff
POLICE are keeping an open mind over whether animal activists were behind a firebomb attack this morning at a firm of livestock hauliers.
Three fire crews and a bomb disposal squad were called after about 40 incendiary devices were found early under lorries at A E George Ltd in Bruton, Somerset.
Two of the firebombs ignited, badly wrecking one lorry and causing minor damage to another.
Police are conducting forensic tests on the remaining bombs, but say there is little as yet to indicate whether the attack was the work of animal activists.
“Its early days yet,” said a police spokesman. “This company has never been targeted before and were keeping an open mind.”
A spokesman for A E George refused to comment.
