Potatoes urged to take the train
RAILWAY privatisation and the development of a national freight grid should help green the image of the food and farming industry, a British Potato Council export seminar was told.
Massive investment by the American-owned English, Welsh & Scottish Railway (EWS) group could mean a guaranteed maximum delivery time of 36 hours door-to-door from the north of Scotland to the south of England, and a three-day delivery time
to European destinations.
