Premier takeover
NATIONAL agrochemical and seed distributer, Profarma, is buying eastern counties-based Premier Crops, subject to the usual checks.
The acquisition will give the company a field force of over 100 agronomists which, it claims, will make it the third biggest player in the UK. Turnover is put at £40m.
Profarma was established in 1994, as a subsidiary of Agrevo (the joint venture between Hoechst and Schering). It is now owned by Dutch group Agrovista, in which Agrevo maintains a 40% stake. *
