Progress update for Hampshire
THE winter barley harvest is at least 66% done, according to Nick Matthews of Bartholomews in Chichester, Hampshire.
“Pearl has been outstanding and Regina is useful, although it is more varied.”
A handful of farmers in the area have also made a start on wheat. Soissons looks good in samples so far. It has a specific weight above 80Kg/hl although the protein content is more varied.
The soft wheat are also doing well, with specific weights about 76kg/hl and protein between 9-11.5%.
