Woodchipper first for skidsteer market

BOBCAT has added a woodchipper to the range of attachments it offers for its 763H and 863H loaders.

Described as the first attachment of its type on the skidsteer market, the chipper uses four reversible cutting blades to convert logs of up to 15cm (6in) in diameter into wood chips. These can then be blown up to 3m from the chipper using the machines four flywheel mounted fan bars and a chute with 360í of rotation.

Power comes from the Bobcats hydraulic system and a remote attachment control allows the operator to start, operate and stop the chipper from outside the skidsteer.

Price, depending on user needs, is about £7500 (01204-667762).

Threading machine cut down to size

THREADING machines can be bulky items of equipment, a fact recognised by Ridge Tool, which believes the answer might be found in the new Ridgid 300 compact.

Weighing in at 52kg, the machine uses the same key drive components as the existing 300 model, with the addition of a built-in oil and chip pan, automatic opening die heads and dies ground to produce clean, accurate threads in 1/8in-2in steel pipe and 6mm-52mm bolt.

Power comes from a 1/2hp universal motor in either 110v or 240v; built in carrying handles ease transportation.

Price £2553.60. Stands from £199.10 (01462-485335).

Protective coating safeguards gloves

PETROLEUM-based chemicals degrade natural rubber, a point not lost on Sentinel Laboratories, whose Nitty Gritty industrial gloves are protected by a nitrile over-dip coating.

Comfort and flexibility come from a five-piece flannel liner anatomically shaped to a relaxed hand, while a multi-layer latex coating is claimed to provide excellent cut, snag and abrasion resistance. An insulated version of the glove is also available.

Price £3.25 a pair (01444-484044).
