Rain stops willow fuel harvest
BRITAINS first “green” wood-fuelled power station suffered a setback when heavy rain made it impossible to harvest its willow fuel.
The Daily Telegraph reports that a 10MW plant in North Yorkshire should fuel a town the size of Scarborough when it begins operations.
But harvesting the first 28 acres of wood was put on hold after heavy rain made conditions too muddy for machinery.
Engineers are to fit floatation tyres to machinery in a bid to overcome this.
