Receivers at pig firm
NEWSHAM Hybrid Pigs called in the receivers this week after running into trading difficulties.
RSM Robson Rhodes, which is handling the companys affairs, says: "A disputed customer debt on top of the recent pig recession and a stop on exports caused by the recent swine fever scare has led to a cashflow crisis."
The company, with a £5m annual turnover, produces about 1000 replacement gilts a week, of which 20% are exported to Europe and the Far East. Sales have recovered slightly since the spring and receivers hope to sell the company as a going concern. *
