Record for on-farm

WHAT is thought to be the biggest one-day on-farm sale of dairy cattle ever held in the UK saw a throughput rate of 73 cattle an hour when almost 600 head of dairystock was offered at Holsworthy, Devon.

Vendors Alan and Gill Crouchs Pancrass herd dispersal drew buyers from as far away as Cheshire. Fresh calved and autumn calvers met the strongest trade with a second calver by Aerostar, giving 46kg on the day, realising 1000gns to A J Johns and Son for their Burlorne herd at Truro, Cornwall.

The same buyers paid 960gns for a heavy-milking, calved heifer out of a 13,000kg Sunny Boy dam and bred from the Terling Chancery family. Integrity daughters sold well reaching 900gns for a second calver giving 49kg. Buyer was Nick Warren, Bodmin. (Norton & Brooksbank with KVN Stockdale) &#42
