Red tape cuts?

Red tape cuts?

THE Inland Revenue has been given more funding to "educate" employers on payroll issues, including "health checks" of payroll systems and reviewing employees personal and national insurance details.

In practice this may mean employers who do not ensure their payroll records are correct may be more heavily penalised.

In February, £50 discounts were announced for small firms that file their VAT returns and PAYE returns electronically. An extra £50 discount will now be available to small employers who also pay tax credits to their employees, file their 2000/01 PAYE returns over the internet and pay the tax electronically. A total discount of £150 will now be possible. &#42
