Robot offers milk quality control

LELYs Astronaut milking robot can now be equipped with a system designed to separate and collect different quality milk from up to four cows.

Fitted as standard to stainless steel Astronauts, the M4use system enables complete quality control and traceablity of milk to be achieved, says Lely.

Colostrum, antibiotic or abnormally-coloured milk can be extracted, separated and stored individually in four hygienically sealed containers.

The Astronauts milk quality control (MQC) system is designed to check milk quality as each cows quarter is milked – which, if deemed to be abnormal, is diverted to the M4use system.

Lely says producers can easily trace the origin of colostrum from each cow so that milk can be fed to the correct calf.

This enables the newly calved cow to integrate back into the herd if required, says Lely.

After separation of the milk, the installation is cleaned automatically, ready for the next cow to step into the milking box. &#42
