SUFFOLK federation has appointed a new county fieldworker, 22-year-old Claire Garford, who will support the countys 11 YFCs and co-ordinate activities. She will be based at Otley College.

&#8226 Northants federations Country Fayre takes place at Glebe Farm, Higham Ferrers, on Sat, May 23. Gates open 10am and activiites include tug-of-war, show jumping, sheep shearing and arts and crafts.

&#8226 Helston & St Keverne YFC has raised £3000 for the Cornwall Childrens Hospital Appeal with an auction of promises made by local businesses and members. There were 150 lots in all, representing a wide range of goods and services. The appeal is for money to build a hospital within the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske to provide separate services for children, and for teenagers who otherwise have to be treated on adult wards. It will include a four-bed cancer and leukaemia unit designed to meet the complex needs of children and their families.
