Royal warrant for hemp bedding
HEMP production is becoming increasingly acceptable it seems, with UK grower and processor Hemcore winning a Royal warrant for the supply of hemp-based horse bedding and the Home Office ditching its requirement for individual growers to pay an £87 licence fee.
The Royal Warrant is by appointment to Her Majesty the Queen, for the supply of horse bedding to the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace.
Demand for the crop is expanding rapidly, prompting Hemcore to seek new growers to expand cropping to at least 4860ha (12,000 acres) in 2002. *
