RSPCA food operation in profit

The RSPCAs scheme to promote humanely grown food will make a
profit this year after three years of losses.

Officials predict that Freedom Food will make a £93,000 profit.
The RSPCA has spent more than £2m on the project. The number of
producers involved in the scheme has increased from 35 in 1996 to 133
this year. The number of stores holding its produce has risen from 1,000
to 3,000. The company attributes its turn around to consumers fears about food safety.
