Rural England ‘loses out’ to townies

NEW research shows that rural England receives a poorer level of public service than urban dwellers.

A report for Rita Hale, an independent local Government consultant for the Rural Services Partnership, found that councils in country areas were forced to spend more on mandatory services. This ate into the cash available for things local authorities were not required to provide by law.
