Safeway could drop advert plan
SAFEWAY is close to reaching agreement with the National Farmers Union (NFU) over demands made by the store that farmers fund product advertising.
Safeway sent to its suppliers asking for £20,000 per product line to be used to support sales promotion.
The NFU, which had threatened to take Safeway to the Competition Commission, said discussions were under way.
