SAP set at £3.45 a ewe
17 October 1997
SHEEP market managers in Brussels have set the second advance sheep annual premium at £3.45 a ewe.
Due to higher sheep prices throughout Europe for much of the year, the commission has predicted the total subsidy for 1997 at £11.50 – lower than last years £13.66. The second advance represents 30% of this and follows on from the £4 first advance paid in July and August.
The balancing payment will not go out until next April, when final average sheep prices and relevant green rates will be known. *
