Saudi bans SA beef

SAUDI ARABIA has banned the import of beef from South Africa because of concerns over “mad cow disease”.

South Africas government says the country has never been affected by the disease. It banned the import of British beef in 1996.

South Africas Red Meat Producers Organisation said the country had been conducting tests approved by the World Trade Organisation to confirm its beef was not infected with the disease.
