Scientists crack food bug’s code

SCIENTISTS at the Wellcome Trusts Sanger Centre in Cambridge have cracked the genetic code of the food bug campylobacter jejuni.

The bug is thought to be responsible for around 60,000 reported cases of food poisoning in the UK each year.

It is found in half the poultry destined for human consumption.
