Scots meat industry training up to scratch

TRAINING within the Scottish meat industry continues to meet a high standard, claims Alistair Donaldson, chairman of the Scottish Meat Training Initiative.

He said the meat sector had recognised that customers were continuing to look for quality.

Mr Donaldson was speaking at his associations inaugural awards ceremony in Glasgow.

The overall award went to Brown Brothers of Dumfries, which also won the manufacturing class.

McIntosh Donald of Portlethen won the slaughtering and processing award, while Scott Brothers of Dundee was judged the best retail butcher.
