Scots snub Lord Sewel

SCOTTISH farm minister Lord Sewel has been snubbed by the organisers of Beef 98 which is to be held in Fife next Friday.

It will be opened by Scottish Secretary Donald Dewar, who has promised to spend several hours at the event meeting farmers, trade exhibitors, and the farming Press.

“I think he knows his farm minister could do more to improve relations between Government and the industry, and we made it clear if Mr Dewar could not attend, then we did not want Lord Sewel,” said Scottish Beef Council chairman John Cameron.

He is hosting the event, which is being organised by the council on behalf of the National Cattle Association.
