Scottish Milk denies threat

THE chairman of Scottish Milk has rejected suggestions that the £180 million-a-year Paisley-based farmers co-operative may be under threat.

Doubts have been raised about the future of Scottish Milk because of the continual erosion of the liquid milk sector.

But John Duncan paints a picture of an independent future for the 1700-strong co-operative in an interview with The Herald.

Scottish Milk is continuing to grow and is handling more volume, he tells the paper.

Mr Duncan said there still demand for processing capacity and for the development of new products in the crowded Scottish market.
