Scottish NFU chief due to be named

THE National Farmers Union of Scotland is expected to announced its new chief executive today.

President George Lyon, will reveal whether it will be one of the three internal candidates to replace Tom Brady, who resigned last December, or one of two external names on the short-list.

Talks will also be held today to try to develop a closer working relationship between the union and the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs.

Young farmers could be offered places on key committees such as livestock, milk and cereals.
