Scottish union warns of highland clearance
THE National Farmers Union of Scotland is back on the offensive over the plight of individual farmers.
Speaking as union officials prepared for the annual round of hill farming negotiations with the government, SNFU president George Lyon, warned that help was desperately needed.
Mr Lyon warned that if the Hill Livestock Compensatory Allowance scheme is not extended then the hill farming sector would have to be turned over to ranching in a big way.
