Shakin’ all over in the tomato bed
TOMATO growers have found that playing rock n roll music to their plants helps pollination.
Alan Parker, chairman of the Tomato Growers Association, says most growers recognise the importance of the unlikely ally.
It is suggested that tomato growing benefits from loud music because it brings the pollen and female ovules into physical contact.
The vibrations dislodge the pollen which falls on the stigmas.
