Sheep premium payment
FIRST advance of the sheep annual premium payment for 2000 will be £3.35/ewe, MAFF has confirmed. Another 97p in agrimoney compensation is expected, and should be paid at the same time as the advance, in late July and August.
Last years first advance was £5.14/ewe. Initial payment for less favoured areas is also lower than 1999, down 51p at £3.74/ewe.
The total value of the premium will not be known until January, but latest indications suggest producers can expect £11.18/ewe, £2.40 less than last year. *
