Sheep shearer remanded after Oxfordshire rural fires

A sheep shearer has appeared in court charged with a triple arson attack on a council planning office, a funeral parlour and a cottage.

Andrew Main, 47, of Roke Marsh Farm, Roke, Wallingford, appeared at Oxford Magistrates Court on Saturday (17 January).

He is charged with two counts of arson reckless as to whether life was endangered and one count of arson with intent to endanger life.

The charges relate to a spate of fires in rural south Oxfordshire in Crowmarsh Gifford and Roke Marsh in the early hours of Thursday morning (15 January). 

Mr Main, who appeared in court wearing a grey tracksuit, nodded only to confirm his name and address. No pleas were entered to the charges.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Oxford Crown Court on 30 January.
