Simmental maiden heifer leads way
A MAIDEN heifer justified the interest shown in her before the sale and topped the trade at 4200gns at a collective offering of Simmental cattle at Lichfield Auction Centre.
Curlieu Heidi, a Camus Brandy daughter out of Brinkton Daisy, was consigned by Carlton Curlieu Farms, Leicester. With an impressive 400-day weight of 628kg, she heads for Frensham, Surrey, with Mrs S Wakefield.
The day included the dispersal of Northants breeders John and Wendy Salisburys Salisbury herd, which sold to 3600gns for the Brinkton Brilliant-sired heifer Salisbury Elsa. She was sold with a June-born heifer calf by Rooklea Fraser to Mrs Ann Jukes for her Swallowhill herd in Kent.
Mrs Jukes also paid 3000gns for another calved heifer by Agardsley Bruno suckling a bull calf by Camus Brandy. Twyford Elspeth, another calved heifer from the same consignment by Gretna House Supersonic, made 3000gns. She was sold with a heifer calf by Bemersyde Endeavour to B Chadwick, Hilton.
