Sims cuts out red meat

SIMS FOOD announced its final withdrawal from fresh red-meat activities. It will close its 50%-owned Premier Meat Packers on March 31.

The BSE crisis hit the company badly and it sold its retail red-meat business to Dawn Holdings last year.

It warned operating profits on continuing activities for the year to March 31 would “only marginally exceed” last years £2.2 million.
