SNFU appoints chief executive
NEW chief executive of the Scottish NFU is Ed Rainy Brown, who has held the same position with Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society, the umbrella organisation for Scotlands 100 farm co-ops, for the past 14 years.
He is 48 and is expected to take up the post in early June. The vacancy arose after the resignation of Tom Brady last December.
Union president, George Lyon, said the appointment would herald the start of fundamental change in the way the union operated. An internal team and a private consultant have been developing plans to reorganise the union at all levels.
"Change is vital if we are to deliver a union able to fulfil the needs of our members and our industry. The new chief executive will have a pivotal role in developing and driving forward that change," he said. *
