Spectres hang over Scottish NFU meeting

FORDYCE MAXWELL comments on the forthcoming Scottish National Farmers Union presidential elections, in The Scotsman, drawing attention to external events hanging over the procedures.

He refers to the animal welfare case against candidate George Lyons business. He also talks about the prospects of John Cameron, chairman of the Scottish Beef Council, who he believes is the favoured candidate by grass-root members.

There is also the spectre of Maitland Mackies campaign for a radical change to the union.
