Spray for bean choc spot now
EASTERN counties arable growers are being urged to spray field beans as soon as possible to prevent the spread of chocolate spot and bean rust in the crop.
Hot, dry conditions followed by wet weather has resulted in high incidence of chocolate spot and bean rust in some areas, says Dalgety. Growers should go in now even where disease risk is low it adds.
New Bayer fungicide, UK413 (tebuconazole + carbendazim), at 1.5 litre/ha provides eradicant and protectant activity of bean rust and mixes well with chlorothalonil (Bravo), it says.
