Strong pound and BSE hangover hit food firms
FOOD exporters and retailers dominated the 88 companies issuing profit warnings in the first quarter of 1998, according to a report released yesterday.
The report, compiled by Ernst & Young, showed that 14% of listed food manufacturers issued profits warnings in the first quarter, citing export problems and the BSE hangover as their biggest headaches.
