Survey reveals post-BSE fears

A MINTEL survey carried out for the Iceland supermarket chain reveals widespread public concern about quality and safety of food following the BSE crisis.

The research shows that meat continues to be the biggest cause of concern for shoppers – 70% said they were concerned by the quality and BSE risks.

More than 30% were confused by labelling, while 60% of parents expressed concern about salt levels. Some 41% were anxious about genetically modified foods.
