Tailored forecasts

INDIVIDUAL forecasts for critical tasks like spraying are part of a new service from the University of East Anglia.

The recent launch of WeatherQuest follows closure of the Met Offices Norwich Weather Centre last September.

Other centres in the closure programme include Southampton, Bristol and Newcastle, notes WeatherQuests Clive Burlton, former NWC manager.

"Our current customers and many other people in the Anglian region have indicated how important it is to them to have a locally-based forecast service."

Information will be available via e-mail, web-site or fax, depending on individual preferences. "We will also be offering phone lines which customers can call and pose specific questions direct to a duty forecaster," says managing director, Jim Bacon. &#42
