Thirty head go to Cheltenham buyer

NINE animals topped 1000gns when George and Sue Fawdry dispersed their commercial Holstein Friesian herd at Chipping Norton, Oxon.

The leading bid of 1180gns came from Messrs B L and K M Sercombe, Lutterworth, Leics for an Oct 1994-bred heifer in-milk by Botermijn 757. The same buyers gave 1040gns for another in-milk heifer by Veldheer.

But the most active bidder was Richard Day who took 30 animals home to his herd at Cheltenham.

AVERAGES: 105 cows (including calves) £757; 29 served heifers £564 and six maiden heifers £332. (Bruton Knowles)
