Tories to bid for farming vote
THE Conservative Party is expected to back claims that supermarkets are profiteering at the expense of farmers, reports The Daily Telegraph.
William Hague will demand that the Ministry of Agriculture publishes quarterly reports showing the gap between prices at the farm gate and the checkout.
The Conservative Party leader will also be making a number of other proposals in a bid to win the farmers vote.
He claims the government has presided over the disintegration of the traditional, rural way of life in an article in Country Life magazine.
