Tractor makers lose European appeals

THE Financial Times reports on two connected appeals in the European Court of Justice involving UK tractor companies John Deere and New Holland Ford.

The two had appealed against the Court of First Instances judgment, upholding a decision of the European Commission, that the UK Agricultural Tractor Exchange agreement was unlawful because it infringed European competition rules.

The European Court of Justice laid down the general principles governing the scope of its powers of review and dismissed the appeals.
