Tractor sales fall

EVEN the most pessimistic would have found it hard to forecast to what extent tractor sales would fall this year.

Latest figures released by the Agricultural Engineers Association reveal October registrations were 27.8% down on the same period last year, and the year to date is 18.1% down.

In terms of figures, October saw just 982 sales of tractors over 40hp bringing the total for the year so far to 13,942.

Last year, in total, the number settled at 18,615 units.

With just two months to go 1997s total will be pushed to make the 16,000 mark.
