Trading with caution
BREEDERS were in hesitant mood after the horrors of foot-and-mouth and this affected bidding for Border Leicester tups at a video sale at Lanark. Consequently, trade was cautious.
The top price of 800gns was paid for a ram lamb from M and A Steel and Sons Ditton flock at Kilmarnock. It was sired by a Knowsie ram and bought by Jimmy Douglas, Aberdeenshire.
Another Knowsie sired ram lamb from James Taylor who runs the Hill flock at Mauchline, Ayrshire, realised 550gns to Mr Coghill, Caithness. (Lawrie and Symington). *
