UK police probe illegal slaughter…

POLICE and inspectors from the Royal Society for the Protection from Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) are investigating the alleged illegal slaughter of sheep at a farm near Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.

The RSPCA was called to the barn at Brindley Ford, where inspectors discovered the carcasses of a dozen sheep and numerous chickens in what appears to be ritual sacrifice to mark the Eid el Kebir Islamic festival.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Agriculture issued a directive specifically banning the ritual slaughter other than at licensed abattoirs.
