Ulster date soon

EUROPEAN Commissioners will set the date for beef exports from Northern Ireland to resume at their weekly meeting next Wednesday (May 26).

The final report from Commissions inspectors was submitted to the Brussels-based standing veterinary committee this week and met with no objections. "This clears the final hurdle," said a spokesman. "Fixing the date can now be done. I can see no reason to postpone it any longer." June 1, a Monday, has been mooted as a possible start date.
