USA brings out quota weapon
in trade war against Europe

THE USA is to impose a three-year quota on surging imports of wheat gluten.

This will limit the European Unions (EU) share in the first year to 54 million 1b.

The US imported about 177m lb of wheat gluten last year, half of it from the EU.

The move comes just a week after the USA said it would subsidise barley sales in markets where the EU sells.
