Vertige does better than expected

DAVID KIRKWOOD, who farms near Burstwick in North Humberside, has started combining Vertige feed barley and is due to start oilseed rape today.

33ha (80acres) of 70ha (170acres) has been cut, and the yield is about 7.4t/acre (3t/acre).

He is happy with this, “virtually every field had flooding in it.” The farm is based on a heavy warp soil.

They will start 73ha (180acres) of Apex and Pronto oilseed rape today.

“The winter wheat is looking well, it should be ready in 2-3 weeks.”
