Voters punish Belgian politicians

BELGIAN voters appear to have punished their politicians for their handling of the food crisis in the countrys recent elections.

Early results showed losses for both the French-speaking and Dutch-speaking arms of the governing Socialist and Christian Democrat parties, and gains for the right-leaning Liberals and the green parties.

Analysts have christened the purging of he politicians as the “dioxin” effect, referring to the carcinogenic chemical which was found to have contaminated animal feed.

Chicken and egg products, as well as pork and beef, were removed from supermarket shelves after the contamination was discovered.
