Westbury relaunch for profit

WESTBURY DAIRIES has relaunched a project to help its 230 milk suppliers improve their efficiency and profitability.

The Westbury Blueprint is the new name for a scheme originally announced by the factory‘s previous owner, United Milk, before it went into receivership.

A key aim is to improve the quality of milk coming into the factory by getting farmers to supply milk which matches the Westbury standard litre of 4.1% butterfat, 3.3% protein.

Director Peter Bennett said: “This maximises the return to our farmers and ensures that milk of optimum constituent quality is delivered to the dairy, improving production efficiency and increasing output of butter and skim milk powder.”

The ADAS Dairy Group will help deliver the programme, which is supported by DEFRA and Brussels‘ grants.
