Win and taste your success
Win and taste your success
HOW do you fancy drinking your own supply of personalised beer, brewed from barley grown on your farm this year?
That is the unique top prize in the quality Barley Grower of the Year competition organised by farmers weekly and DuPont.
Malting barley has reclaimed its position as a key crop on arable farms. Buoyant world demand, coupled with improved varieties, have prompted a major resurgence in popularity.
Working in conjunction with DuPont, Warminster Maltings and Pilgrim Ales, farmers weekly is offering you the chance to prove your prowess as a malting barley grower and win a supply of top quality beer.
The competition aims to promote good practice in malting barley husbandry – the judges will be looking for technical knowledge, good farm policy and a top quality sample this harvest.
The novel prize for the overall winner is a batch of beer brewed from malting barley grown on your farm. And you get a personalised bottle label, too. Awards will also be made for the best barley sample and the farm with the best agronomic practice.
Runners-up will also receive a supply of this special brew. All finalists and their partners will be invited to the presentation and overnight accommodation at a top London hotel in December.
Entering is easy. Just follow the simple instructions outlined below. Who knows, you could be toasting the success of this years malting barley crop throughout 1998.
